“Heathen Gods – A Collection of Essays Concerning the Folkway of Our People” is a 216-page-book of Asatru/Heathen essays written by Mark Ludwig Stinson, Chieftain of Jotun's Bane Kindred and a AFA Folkbuilder in the Heartland. Chapters cover essays for new heathens, how to start and maintain a kindred, living a heathen life, as well as poetry and a journal of Mark's journey to visit Iceland in 2009.

"The Road to Hel - A Study of the Conception of the Dead in Old Norse Literature" by Hilda Roderick Ellis Davidson was first published in 1943, and was based on a thesis that H.R. Ellis Davidson wrote in 1940 for her Ph.D. This is an excellent resource for those who are curious about how our ancestors viewed death, and what might come after death.

"Merciless Gale" is a blowing horn, given to Jotun's Bane Kindred by Sean Cook, a St. Louis Heathen...and Friend of our Kindred. This video was shot by Will Burris, and features people in attendance at Jamie's Oathing on April 25, 2009...trying their hand at blowing the horn.

On August 29, 2008, Heathens from several kindreds gathered in Minnesota, at an event hosted by Volkshof Kindred. There were workshops, a blot, a folk Symbel, and more formal Symbel, traditional crafts, and the whole event was a great experience. Jotun's Bane Kindred was there, and we're going back in 2009. The Slideshow Video was put together by Mark Stinson, with Music by Kari Tauring.

On April 25, 2009 the members of Jotun's Bane Kindred gathered at Gaea Retreat, for the occasion of Jamie's kindred oath. We gathered at the base on an old oak tree called Forn Halr, and welcomed a new member into our tribe!

This PDF file is a cleaned up, freshly transcribed version of the 1880 translation of the Prose Edda by Rasmus B. Anderson. Anderson's tranlation is also commonly used.

This 1906 translation by I.A. Blackwell is normally found co-published with the Thorpe translation of the Poetic Edda. In this case, we've removed Thorpe's Poetic Edda...and created a PDF file of just Blackwell's translation of the Prose Edda.

This is NOT a translation of the Poetic Edda, but instead a 46-page study guide for students. It describes the origins of the document, provides a plot summary for each of the Lays, a description of all of the characters, themes, the style, and the historical context. The guide goes further, and provides a critical overview, criticism, and additional information on the Poetic Edda.

This 2005 translation and and practical guide to the Eddas was composed by James Allen Chisholm. Chisholm only provides the Lays of the Gods, the first half of the Poetic Edda. But then follows this with Chapters that focus on practical applications of the Eddas: Runic Keys to Edda Myth, Working with Holy Wights, Natural Forces, and Holy Names, Spring Drama and Eddic Myth, Magical Initiation, etc. Chisholm is a Heathen, and this likely has some impact on the content and tone of his translation.

This is a reading of the Vِluspل, accompanied by imagery and artwork that brings the poem to life. Vِluspل is the first and best known poem of the Poetic Edda. It tells the story of the creation of the world and its coming end related by a vِlva or seeress addressing Odin. It is one of the most important primary sources for the study of Norse mythology.
